2016 Chimney Drop Toy Drive

2016 Chimney Drop Toy Drive

Our annual Chimney Drop Toy Drive held in December was a major success! SCCAA’s goal to give hope and purpose to children and families of domestic violence and grandparents raising children was met with contributions and donations from the community. We received over 1,000 items including, toys, winter wear, sports equipment, and games.  The generosity of the community enabled us to give to children and families in Hinds, Simpson, Madison, and Rankin counties.

SCCAA’s newest program, Families First, held parenting classes and sessions with the recipients. Their participation in the program helped to increase the bonds within the family, as well as strengthen the relationships within the community. One recipient said, “It was really a blessing to receive those toys for my children. All three of them were able to get something for Christmas. What you all are doing is so good for the community. Keep it up.”

The donations we received helped make Christmas more tangible for those children and families who needed and deserved it. We are already working on ways to make this year’s toy drive bigger and better. For ways to help, contact us at 769-235-8224 or www.yoursccaa.com.
